Prepared volume [µL] = volume per batch × batches × (1 + overage / 100)
Overage scales every component, including ethanol. It does not change the lipid concentration or composition.
Molar fraction = lipid parts / sum of all lipid parts
Parts do not need to add to 100. A ratio of 5:1:4 is treated as 50%:10%:40%. Zero parts excludes a lipid from the preparation.
Total lipid [nmol] = prepared volume [µL] × total lipid concentration [mM]
Lipid [nmol] = total lipid [nmol] × molar fraction
Stock [mM] = stock [mg/mL] × 1,000 / MW [g/mol]
Stock volume [µL] = lipid [nmol] / stock [mM]
Lipid mass [µg] = lipid [nmol] × MW [g/mol] / 1,000
For a prepared stock, mass concentration [mg/mL] = lipid mass [mg] / final solution volume [mL]. Use the final solution volume, which may differ from the volume of solvent added.
Molecular weight is optional for mM stocks. It is required for mass calculations and for mg/mL stocks. PEG lipid average molecular weights depend on the product. Use the supplier's value for your material.
Ethanol top-up [µL] = prepared volume − sum of lipid stock volumes
Stock volumes use an additive-volume model. Stock solvents must be appropriate for your mixture. Concentration refers to this lipid phase; dilution during aqueous mixing and subsequent processing is outside this calculator.
Each built-in lipid has a supplier product reference in the lipid library and in the selected recipe row. Molecular weights depend on the chemical form and counterion. PEG values are average molecular weights. Use the value for your product or lot; overrides remain visible in the recipe. A library selection copies its value and reference into the recipe.
A working draft autosaves in this browser. Save recipe adds a named copy to Saved recipes; saving again with the same name updates it. Excel and CSV exports use full precision. JSON backups move saved recipes and records to another browser. Clearing browser storage deletes them.
The pipetting warning threshold and the website address used for QR codes are device settings (gear icon in the header). They apply to every recipe opened on that device; exports record the threshold in use.
